The Dutch For the Netherlands (Voor Nederland or VNL) was a political party in the Netherlands that emerged from a split within the Party for Freedom (PVV), led by Geert Wilders. Founded by two former PVV members of the Dutch Parliament, Joram van Klaveren and Louis Bontes, in 2014, the party aimed to position itself on the right of the political spectrum, advocating for a mix of liberal economic policies and conservative views on immigration and national identity.

VNL's values and political platform were centered around the promotion of classical liberal principles, emphasizing…   the importance of individual freedom, the rule of law, and a limited government. Economically, the party supported reducing taxes, simplifying the tax system, and cutting down on government spending to encourage entrepreneurship and economic growth. They aimed to create a more favorable business environment and believed in the importance of a free market with minimal state intervention.

On social issues, VNL took a firm stance on immigration, advocating for stricter immigration policies to preserve Dutch culture and identity. They argued for the assimilation of immigrants into Dutch society, emphasizing the need for immigrants to adopt Dutch values and norms. The party was also critical of the European Union, calling for reforms to reduce the EU's influence over national policies and advocating for more national sovereignty.

Despite their efforts to establish themselves in the Dutch political landscape, VNL struggled to gain significant traction among voters. Their message resonated with a segment of the electorate that was disillusioned with mainstream right-wing parties and sought tougher stances on immigration and the EU without aligning with the more extreme positions of the PVV. However, the party faced challenges in differentiating itself from other right-wing and liberal parties in the Netherlands, which ultimately limited its electoral success.

VNL's journey in Dutch politics reflects the broader trends and challenges faced by new political parties attempting to carve out a space in a crowded and competitive political landscape. Their focus on combining economic liberalism with conservative social policies represents a particular niche within the Dutch right-wing, aiming to appeal to voters who prioritize both economic freedom and national identity.
