How would you respond if someone told you that talking about racism only creates more division?
I would say that this idea that talking about racism only creates more divide for the individuals who are uncomfortable talking about the topic, which are usually those who benefit from the silence. These conversations are already being had by marginalized communities and by people talking about them on a larger scale we can address the issues on a larger level. I would also add that in order t=for an individual to experience racism they must be in the subordinate position of power on a social level, in which those who maintained the higher step in the class structure cannot be discriminated against by the lower counter part. The rhetoric that comes out of the second class that critiques and hates towards their opressor is an act of resistance to their own marginalization.
